Job Overview:
A nationally respected law firm is seeking a Trademark Associate with 3 to 7 years of experience to join its Intellectual Property practice. This role focuses on providing strategic counsel and legal support across all aspects of trademark and copyright law, including prosecution, portfolio management, enforcement, and litigation. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills and the ability to advise clients on complex domestic and international intellectual property matters.

Location:

  • Hackensack, NJ

Duties:

  • Conduct trademark searches and assess risk for new brand names and marks

  • Prepare and prosecute trademark applications in the . and abroad

  • Manage trademark and copyright portfolios for a variety of business segments

  • Provide legal counsel on trademark clearance, enforcement strategies, and litigation support

  • Handle opposition and cancellation proceedings before the USPTO

  • Advise on copyright registration, protection, and enforcement matters

  • Work with clients to develop and implement brand protection strategies

  • Collaborate with other legal teams to deliver integrated intellectual property advice

Requirements:

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in trademark and copyright law

  • Experience with domestic and international trademark portfolio management

  • Familiarity with . and foreign trademark law and procedures

  • Experience handling USPTO filings and enforcement matters

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one . jurisdiction

  • Admission in NY or NJ preferred, depending on office location

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication abilities

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills

  • Proficiency with USPTO processes and filing systems

  • Ability to handle complex trademark matters independently
