A law firm seeks an experienced Associate to join its Patent Prosecution & Litigation Practice Group, focusing on intellectual property litigation. This role offers an opportunity to work on high-profile cases, contributing to various stages of litigation, from case management to trial proceedings. The firm is looking for a dedicated professional with a strong background in IP litigation and a desire to grow within the team. The position is based in Tucson, AZ.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee intellectual property litigation matters, including briefing motions, taking depositions, and preparing for trial.
  • Work closely with experts and other stakeholders, ensuring effective case management throughout the litigation process.
  • Handle Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings, if applicable, and manage trial preparations.
  • Supervise junior associates, paralegals, and other legal staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Draft legal documents, including motions, discovery requests, and trial briefs.
  • Collaborate with clients to strategize and address legal challenges in IP cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in intellectual property litigation.
  • Proven ability to manage litigation cases and supervise junior team members.
  • Experience in depositions, motions practice, and working with expert witnesses.
  • Experience with PTAB proceedings or trial litigation is highly preferred.
  • Candidates with a background in engineering and admission to the USPTO are strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle complex case management.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field is highly preferred.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law or be eligible to become licensed in Arizona as soon as possible.
  • Admission to the USPTO is preferred but not required.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in legal research, writing, and technical analysis.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with patent law and litigation tools.
