A law firm seeks an experienced IP Litigation & Patent Prosecution Associate to join its dynamic team in Tucson, AZ. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in intellectual property litigation, including significant involvement in case management, depositions, motion practice, and trial proceedings. Strong communication, analytical skills, and an engineering background are preferred. This role presents an exciting opportunity to manage IP cases, work with experts, and collaborate with clients across a range of technologies.

Duties

  • Manage and handle IP litigation matters, including briefing, motion practice, and depositions.
  • Work closely with experts, coordinate case strategy, and support all aspects of litigation.
  • Take ownership of cases, supervising junior associates and paralegals.
  • Represent clients in PTAB proceedings and trial-level litigation.
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients regarding patent prosecution and litigation matters.
  • Collaborate with other members of the IP team to develop and implement litigation strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IP litigation, including practical experience with briefing, depositions, and case management.
  • Proven ability to manage cases and supervise junior team members.
  • Engineering degree and USPTO registration preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent academic credentials with a demonstrated history of success in IP law.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with a high degree of organization.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Colorado or have the ability to become licensed.

Education

  • A degree in engineering or a related technical field is strongly preferred.
  • Law degree from an accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Admission to the USPTO is preferred.
  • Licensed to practice law or eligible to become licensed in Colorado.
