Job Overview:
A Connecticut-based law firm is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney with experience in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 proceedings. This full-time, in-office role is ideal for a dedicated legal professional who is passionate about helping individuals achieve financial recovery and long-term stability. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with legal and administrative staff, handle client consultations, manage bankruptcy filings, and represent clients in court. Location:

  • Hartford, CT

Duties:

  • Analyze client financial situations to determine appropriate bankruptcy solutions

  • Prepare and file legal documents including petitions, motions, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings and motion arguments

  • Develop and execute effective legal strategies tailored to each case

  • Provide legal advice and guidance throughout the bankruptcy process

  • Supervise and coordinate with legal support staff such as paralegals and law clerks

  • Maintain case files and documentation in compliance with legal standards and deadlines

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience representing clients in bankruptcy matters preferred

  • Strong understanding of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy law

  • Familiarity with federal and Connecticut-specific bankruptcy procedures

  • Strong legal writing and research abilities

  • Comfort and experience in public speaking and courtroom advocacy

  • Residency within a 30-minute commute to Hartford, CT

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited . law school

Certifications:

  • Active and good standing member of the Connecticut Bar

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw or Lexis

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)

  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail

  • Client-focused approach with effective communication skills
