Job Title: Senior Associate, State and Local Tax
Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Associate within the State and Local Tax (SALT) practice at the company, the candidate will be expected to contribute in several key areas:
- Assist with various state and local tax planning and compliance projects, focusing on deep technical issues such as apportionment methodologies, tax base modifications, and Tax Reform for corporate and pass-through entities.
- Deliver state and local tax advisory services, including conducting refund reviews, nexus studies, voluntary disclosures, and tax minimization studies for income/franchise tax purposes.
- Independently research multi-state income/franchise tax issues and developments.
- Engage in areas such as sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, employment taxes, credits and incentives, and property taxes.
- Attend client calls to understand critical areas of importance and apply tax technical knowledge to specific client situations.
- Create concise and complete deliverables that address the elements deemed critical by the client.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, clearly communicating work plans, project objectives, and timelines.
- Manage engagement workflow and mentor Associates by delegating tasks, ensuring task completion, and sharing best practices.
- Value diversity of perspectives and create opportunities for individuals to contribute comfortably.
- Build client relationships and demonstrate a working knowledge of client businesses, with the opportunity to assume additional responsibility quickly.
- Identify opportunities to provide additional services to existing clients by leveraging knowledge of client businesses.
- Assist with business development by creating business development resources and proposal materials.
- Build internal relationships with other members of the Tax team and the greater company.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with State and Local Tax.
- CPA or Licensed Attorney (or in the process of pursuing).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and concisely.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Power BI.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and effectively meet deadlines.
- High motivation to learn and grow.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $105,000 annually. This is dependent on several variables, including education, experience, skills, and geography. Additionally, the company offers a discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance.
