Job Title: Corporate Counsel
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with General Counsel and the legal department to address the legal needs of a dynamic professional service practice.
- Assist in managing professional liability, auto, or general liability claims against the company and work towards their resolution.
- Coordinate with internal resources and external insurance brokers to ensure coverage for claims, compliance with insurance requirements, and address insurance-related inquiries.
- Research legal issues and changes in the law to ensure compliance with the company's day-to-day operations, advising management on perceived risks or liabilities.
- Serve as a legal resource on various subjects including project delivery issues, business conduct requirements, cybersecurity, professional liability, commercial insurance, employee relations, intellectual property, bankruptcy, securities regulations, and collection and payment issues.
- Review and negotiate contracts and subcontracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors in collaboration with the legal department, General Counsel, Project Managers, and Client Managers to achieve positive outcomes.
- Provide responsive services to internal and external clients for effective issue resolution.
- Offer guidance and support to Project or Client Managers on contract or risk management issues.
- Respond to assistance requests from Project and Client Managers.
- Perform additional related duties and responsibilities as required.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (JD) Degree and a license to practice law in any state/province in the US or Canada are required.
- At least 2 years of experience in contract law, including contract review, administration, negotiation, project-related claims, and the ability to communicate complex legal issues to non-lawyers.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint, and working knowledge of Excel and Access is required.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues, professionals, senior management, project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and logical thinking skills.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contracts, insurance documents, business periodicals, journals, financial reports, legal documents, office procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Valid . driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel.
