A law firm seeks a motivated and skilled Patent Agent to join its team in Redwood City, CA. Duties:
- Assist in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Collaborate with senior patent agents and partners to build and manage a diverse portfolio of patents.
- Conduct patent searches, analyze patentability, and provide strategic recommendations for clients.
- Draft patent applications and responses to office actions, working under the guidance of senior team members.
- Develop client relationships and increase client contact while building a professional network.
- Take an active role in client meetings and communications, ensuring a high level of service.
- For senior patent agents, work autonomously in managing patent portfolios and filing with the USPTO.
- Maintain and manage client records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date filings.
Requirements:
- A science degree in the biological sciences, preferably an advanced degree in fields such as chemistry, biochemistry, immunology, cell biology, or molecular biology.
- Must be registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Strong academic credentials and a proven track record of success.
- Previous experience in law firm or industry settings is preferred, but not required.
- For senior roles, experience working independently and managing patent prosecution matters is required.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while developing autonomy over time.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field (Advanced degree preferred).
