Job Title: Senior Counsel

Job Overview:

A prominent law firm based in San Francisco, CA, is seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Attorney to support its growing civil defense team. With a longstanding presence across California and Nevada, this firm is recognized for its successful handling of complex, high-exposure litigation matters. Duties:

  • Handle all phases of litigation from inception through resolution in civil defense matters

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, including trials and hearings (both in-person and remote)

  • Conduct discovery, take and defend depositions, draft legal pleadings and motions

  • Collaborate with team members to develop legal strategies for various liability claims

  • Maintain frequent communication with clients, opposing counsel, and internal stakeholders

  • Analyze case files and provide thorough risk assessments and recommendations

  • Manage a dynamic caseload with autonomy and accountability

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice in California and/or Nevada

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably in insurance defense or a related area

  • Proven courtroom advocacy and legal writing skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication abilities

  • Proficiency in using litigation support tools and legal practice management software

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the California and/or Nevada State Bar

Skills:

  • Litigation strategy and case analysis

  • Deposition and trial preparation

  • Legal research and drafting

  • Time and case management

  • Adaptability in both in-office and remote work settings

  • Team-oriented mindset and collaborative approach
