Job Responsibilities:

Perform legal research and writing assignments to assist judges in the Juvenile Court
Work directly with judges and under the supervision of court administrators
Attend hearings and other courtroom proceedings as needed
Travel to courthouses throughout the Commonwealth
Prepare well-written and error-free legal research memoranda and other written documents
Meet deadlines and complete assignments in a timely manner
Demonstrate high ethical standards and professionalism

Requirements:

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or eligibility to sit for the Massachusetts bar exam
Excellent legal writing and communication skills
Strong legal research and analytical skills
Access to a reliable car and willingness to travel to courthouses as assigned
Familiarity with legal research resources and computer programs
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and work well independently
Genuine commitment to serving the full term of the clerkship

Preferred Qualifications:

Current legal practice or intent to practice law in Massachusetts
Substantial legal research and writing experience, including prior judicial internships
Courses in juvenile law, research assistant positions, or prior work experience in juvenile law
Familiarity with legal research resources beyond Westlaw and Lexis
Demonstrated commitment to government or public service
