Data Privacy Counsel Manager

Job Responsibilities:
As a Data Privacy Counsel Manager in the department, the role involves a range of responsibilities focused on ensuring data privacy compliance and supporting internal corporate and business functions globally. The key responsibilities include:

- Conducting privacy reviews for new or existing internal projects and business data privacy compliance strategic projects on a regional and global scale.
- Providing subject matter expertise and support in data privacy, legal compliance, privacy risk management, and privacy by design.
- Partnering and interacting with key business stakeholders and senior individuals to ensure data privacy issues are considered at the outset of new services, offerings, projects, products, and initiatives.
- Conducting legal research and interpreting and applying a risk-based assessment of how legal requirements affect new services, offerings, projects, products, or initiatives.
- Building and maintaining strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with legal and business teams, and interacting with clients as needed.
- Working effectively with regional and local stakeholders to create and maintain suitable privacy review processes and embed privacy by design methodology into relevant business processes.
- Collaborating with other Data Privacy team roles on global data privacy initiatives and projects.
- Staying abreast of legal and regulatory developments related to data privacy and adjacent fields/areas/topics, including technology trends and developments and their impact, and developing guidance, training, and thought leadership for internal audiences.

Education and Experience Information:
Basic Qualifications:

- Minimum of 7 years of experience in global data privacy law and practice in a global company

Preferred Qualifications:
- CIPP/CIPM or comparable privacy certification
- Demonstrated data privacy and data security expertise and command of global data privacy and related laws
- Strong project/program management and operational skills to lead cross-functional projects, especially in a multi-cultural environment
- Experience in the technology or IT sector
- Experience monitoring privacy trends and developments and translating those into actionable requirements
- Proficiency in English (both spoken and written)
- Ability to explain complex ideas, processes, or plans in simple terms
- Ability to think independently and collaboratively across various levels and bridge different views and requirements
- Highly motivated and proactive, with the ability to articulate company vision and policy, and to seek out areas of risk and priority
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills with the ability to interface and develop relationships with all levels of management and staff, and work cross-culturally
- Confidence and credibility in dealing with internal management, senior personnel within the corporate functions, outside counsel, and other Legal team members
- Consistent application of good judgment
- Ability to adapt nimbly to changing needs within the business

Salary Information:
Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, including specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The salary range for various locations is as follows:

- California: $94,400 to $293,800
- Colorado: $94,400 to $253,800
- District of Columbia: $100,500 to $270,300
- Illinois: $87,400 to $253,800
- Minnesota: $94,400 to $253,800
- Maryland: $87,400 to $235,000
- New York: $87,400 to $293,800
- Washington: $100,500 to $270,300
