Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, with expertise in either litigation or transactional matters. This role involves advising clients on state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric health laws, as well as participating in breach response, compliance counseling, and risk ;

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel in privacy and cybersecurity litigation, focusing on privacy-related and class action cases
  • Draft and negotiate vendor and business customer service agreements
  • Advise clients on compliance with state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric data regulations
  • Assist with breach response and risk management for data privacy incidents
  • Collaborate with internal teams on data privacy and cybersecurity matters
  • Manage client relationships and participate in business development activities
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, knowledge sharing, and professional growth

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of experience in data privacy, cybersecurity, or related practice areas
  • Significant experience in privacy litigation or transactional work (., vendor and service agreements)
  • Expertise in state and federal privacy laws, including CCPA, GLBA, HIPAA, and biometric data laws
  • Experience in breach response, compliance counseling, or risk management for privacy matters
  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification is preferred but not required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships efficiently

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited . law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar
  • CIPP/US certification (preferred, but not required)

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of data privacy and cybersecurity law
  • Strong litigation or transactional drafting skills
  • Proficiency in compliance, breach response, and risk management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within teams and with clients
  • Detail-oriented with a strong analytical approach
