Job Title: Tax Manager, Core Tax Services

Job Summary:

The Tax Manager, Core Tax Services is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluating and selecting alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, and identifying different methods of complying with tax regulations. In this role, the Manager will act as the primary client contact for complex tax issues and will be responsible for applying knowledge to understand potential tax issues, communicating potential risks, and recognizing potential changes in tax policy. The Manager will also be involved in marketing, networking, and business development within their area of expertise and may be asked to provide written tax advice to clients.

Job Duties:

- Ensure clients comply with all applicable tax authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens
- Resolve tax issues with clients and involve specialists when necessary
- Communicate with clients and Assurance about tax accrual reviews
- Plan and review the tax process and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, monitoring engagement process, and timely billing and collection of accounts receivable
- Manage client relationships and expectations
- Provide timely tax advice to clients
- Identify when research is needed and effectively communicate the analysis
- Apply Firm and professional standards for preparation of tax returns and involve specialists when necessary
- Proactively apply Firm policies and standards regarding tax accruals and uncertain tax positions
- Explain and discuss income tax provision and uncertain tax positions with clients
- Communicate with Assurance counterparts to plan tax accrual reviews
- Utilize and manage tax software as needed
- Develop and implement efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits and decrease taxes
- Consider the applicability of consulting specialties for each client
- Serve as a technical resource and provide effective assistance with exam support
- Develop an in-depth understanding of one or more areas of taxation
- Organize and conduct internal training sessions for other tax professionals
- Introduce and develop new or improved ideas to improve the position of clients and the Firm
- Review tax implications and offer alternative courses of action to clients
- Identify and leverage lessons learned from prior projects
- Perform other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Supervise and train associates and senior associates
- Review work prepared by associates and senior associates
- Train associates and senior associates on current software tools
- Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates
- Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates
- Provide performance feedback to associates and senior associates

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Education:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics (required)
- Master's in Accountancy or Taxation (preferred)

Experience:

- Five or more years of relevant tax experience in public accounting, private industry, or consulting/professional services (required)
- Prior supervisory experience (required)
- Industry expertise in one or more tax specialty (preferred)

License/Certifications:

- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (required)
- Possession of other applicable professional degrees or certifications (preferred)

Software:

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (preferred)
- Experience with tax research databases and compliance software (preferred)
