Job Summary:
BDO's Private Client Services is a boutique practice within the firm that specializes in providing high touch tax and financial services to high net-worth individuals, families, executives, athletes, and entertainers. As a Tax Manager, Private Client Services, you will use your educational background and professional experience to provide tax compliance and consulting services to our clients. You will also have the opportunity to work directly with clients, develop your technical and leadership skills, and contribute to business development efforts.
Job Duties:
- Manage tax and consulting engagements, identifying and addressing client needs, tax planning, and consulting opportunities
- Work directly with clients and their advisors to gather information for tax returns
- Review individual, trust, estate, S-Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns and provide feedback to staff and interns
- Communicate with government agencies for complex matters
- Identify technical issues, conduct tax research, and provide recommendations to PCS leadership
- Develop understanding of tax concepts and stay updated on current tax developments
- Prioritize and complete tasks individually and with a team
- Assist with PCS/firm contribution responsibilities, including billing, recruiting, and training
- Build and maintain relationships with BDO professionals and external sources
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects
- Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide feedback
- Train associates and seniors on software tools
- Act as a Career Advisor to associates and senior associates
- Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates
- Provide performance feedback to associates and senior associates
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred
- Master's degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred
Experience:
- 5+ years prior experience in accounting, finance, or law required
- Experience in public accounting or private client services preferred
License/Certifications:
- CPA, EA, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or equivalent preferred
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to role preferred
Software:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat required
- Experience with tax compliance process software (GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, GoFileRoom, SurePrep) preferred
- Experience with tax research tools (BNA Portfolio, CCH IntelliConnect, Checkpoint, Lexis Nexis) preferred

Salary Information (depending on location and qualifications):
- California Range: $112,000 - $150,000
- Colorado Range: $90,000 - $130,000
- Illinois Range: $105,000 - $130,000
- Maryland Range: $111,000 - $122,000
- Minnesota Range: $90,000 - $120,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $120,000 - $150,000
- Washington Range: $110,000 - $125,000
- Washington DC Range: $123,000 - $139,000
