Job Title: Financial Services Tax - Real Estate Manager
Job Responsibilities:
A career in the Financial Services Tax practice within the Corporate Tax services offers the opportunity to assist clients in meeting their tax obligations while managing the impact of tax on their business. The role involves advising clients on local and overseas tax affairs, acting as a strategic consultant in business analysis, managing working capital, and profit sharing for partners. Responsibilities include helping organizations understand the pricing implications of goods and services between related parties and providing advice on tax implications of deals. The role requires navigating the frequently changing and complex national and international tax environment, related to stringent capital requirements, management of operational tax risks, and tax implications of investing in different jurisdictions. The manager is expected to help clients with their tax structuring and address the challenges of the continuously changing tax world, both locally and globally.
As a Manager, you will work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include developing new skills outside of your comfort zone, resolving issues that prevent the team from working effectively, coaching others, recognizing their strengths, and encouraging them to take ownership of their personal development. You will analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations. The role involves using multiple sources of information, including broader stakeholder views, to develop solutions and recommendations. You will address sub-standard work or work that does not meet the firm's/client's expectations, use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making, and develop a point of view on key global trends and how they impact clients. Managing a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties is essential. You will simplify complex messages, highlight, and summarize key points, and uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct.
Additional responsibilities include leading as technology-enabled tax advisors who provide value through digitization, automation, and increased efficiencies. The role requires equipping professionals to succeed in a world where transactions are faster, more complicated, and require a deeper level of sophistication.
Education and Experience Information:

- Minimum Years of Experience: 4 years
Certification(s) Required:
- CPA, Member of the Bar, or other tax, technology, or finance-specific credentials may qualify for this opportunity.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of tax compliance methods, strategy consulting for Real Estate Investment Trusts, and Real Estate Partnerships.
- Considerable knowledge of partnership structures and their impact on real estate transactions and corresponding tax liabilities.
- Considerable knowledge of accounting of Unrelated Business Taxable Income.
- Comprehensive technical skills, including providing full services to real estate owners, developers, and investors, including publicly traded REITS, institutional real estate funds managed by financial institutions, and privately held real estate entities.
- Considerable experience identifying and addressing client needs: building, maintaining, and utilizing networks of client relationships and community involvement; communicating value propositions; managing resource requirements, project workflow, budgets, billing, and collections; and preparing and/or coordinating complex written and verbal materials.
- Considerable experience as a team leader: supervising teams to create an atmosphere of trust; seeking diverse views to encourage improvement and innovation; and coaching staff including providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
- Demonstrates success as a tax technical business advisor, including developing new relationships, making introductions to sell new services, and doing so with a "One Firm" service mindset. Preferred familiarity with a CRM system.
- Demonstrates knowledge of automation & digitization in a professional services environment including but not limited to:
- Innovating through new and existing technologies, along with experimenting with digitization solutions;
- Working with large, complex data sets to build models and leverage data visualization tools to provide insights to clients; and,
- Utilizing digitization tools to reduce hours and optimize engagements.
- Knowledge of alternative fee arrangements, including the use of pricing tools, to provide a point of view on pricing strategies.
Salary Information:
The salary range for this position is $98,300 - $266,000, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. For roles based in Maryland, this is the listed salary range for this position. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and applicable employment laws.
