Job Title: Tax Manager, Specialized Tax Services Partnerships
Job Responsibilities:
1. Tax Specialization:
- Maintain and develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation.
- Participate in the organization and conduct of effective external CPE training sessions in the area of specialization, involving company specialists, at least once per year.
- Train and mentor associates, senior associates, and managers.
2. Research:
- Identify when research is needed; clearly and concisely frame issues to be researched; and clearly and concisely report the analysis.
- Identify complex issues to be researched by the engagement team and provide a research methodology for an efficient research process.
- Train associates and senior associates on research skills and help to appropriately frame tax issues for analysis.
- Involve company specialists, as appropriate.
3. Tax Consulting:
- Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes.
- Apply the combination of tax knowledge and knowledge of business/industry to recommend solutions.
- Maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing client taxes, while managing risk.
- Implement applicable company strategies.
- Manage client expectations.
4. Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
- Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review comments.
- Train associates and senior associates on how to use all current software tools.
- Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
- Schedule and manage the workload of associates and senior associates.
- Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.
Education and Experience Information:
1. Education:
- Bachelor’s degree, required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics, preferred.
- Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation, preferred.
2. Experience:
- Five or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience, required.
- Specialized partnership experience, required.
- Prior supervisory experience, preferred.
- Private equity experience, both fund and portfolio company levels, preferred.
3. License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) (or the equivalent of one of these designations), preferred.
- Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role, preferred.
4. Software:
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, preferred.
- Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software, preferred.
