Job Title: Senior Trial Attorney (Remote – Michigan)
Job Responsibilities:
- Represent insured individuals and the company in the defense of bodily injury and property damage lawsuits, subrogation, and financial cases.
- Prepare for and conduct hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and depositions.
- Conduct depositions and examinations under oath, preparing summary documents.
- Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, arbitrations, mediations, and trials, including expert witnesses.
- Keep claim business partners updated on various case aspects such as initial client contact, litigation plans, strategy conferences, and pre-trial updates.
- Contact clients to discuss their cases and answer any questions.
- Review new file assignments, documentary evidence, approve initial pleadings, propound discovery, and develop strategies.
- Investigate and pursue subrogation litigation as appropriate.
- Draft post-trial motions and prepare motions, including motions in limine and summary documents.
- Conduct settlement and dispositive proceedings, including mediations and arbitrations.
- Prepare and conduct court appearances, such as matter management conferences, hearings, and status conferences.
Education and Experience Information:
- Required: 4-year Bachelor's Degree.
- Required: Juris Doctor degree.
- Experience: 5 or more years of experience in relevant legal fields.
Minimum Requirements:
- Proficient in conducting legal research, writing, and analysis, with the ability to draft clear and well-structured legal documents.
- Strong time management skills, capable of effectively balancing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to organize case files, manage legal documents, and understand the discovery process.
- Skilled in communicating with clients, preparing summaries, and maintaining records of interactions.
- Well-versed in legal ethics and professional conduct standards.
- Equipped with fundamental negotiation techniques and strategies for client interactions and settlement discussions.
- Must be within a commutable distance to courthouses throughout greater Detroit.
Compensation:
- The compensation offered for this role ranges from $85, to $152, annually, based on experience and qualifications.
