Job Responsibilities:
The Fall 2025 Law Clerk position at the organization involves working closely with the Juvenile Defenders on various aspects of case preparation. The role is designed to provide law students with substantive skills, written work products, and real case experience. Law clerks at the organization are tasked with a range of responsibilities including:
- Conducting legal research
- Drafting motions and memoranda
- Engaging in case planning

- Coordinating with witnesses
- Preparing for and participating in trials, hearings, and/or sentencings
Law clerks are fully integrated into trial teams, working alongside attorneys, investigators, paralegals, social workers, and other support staff to ensure comprehensive advocacy and the best representation for clients.
Education and Experience Information:
The position is specifically designed for current law students or recent law school graduates. The organization seeks individuals who are enrolled in law school and are at different stages of their legal education, including 1L, 2L, and 3L students. The program offers hands-on experience in client-centered and team-based representation, allowing students to apply their academic knowledge in real-world legal settings.

Applications for the Fall 2025 Law Clerk position are accepted on a rolling basis, with final selections made by the district offices. Interested candidates should specify their interest in the Juvenile Law Clerk Program and indicate their preferred office locations within the State of Maryland.
