Job Title: Contracts Attorney I
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with contract management and team members to oversee the organization's procurement and contracting processes.
- Develop and monitor the initiation, review, approval, and renewal of contracts to ensure timely processing with appropriate internal and external approvals and signatures.
- Maintain and manage both internal and external relationships effectively.
- Draft proposal solicitation documents (RFP, RFQ) based on a well-developed scope of work/services, ensuring the inclusion of correct and current contract templates, terms and conditions, and all necessary documentation for successful procurement announcements.
- Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support informal and formal procurement proposals throughout the entire procurement process, from proposal development to vendor conference, evaluation, negotiation, contract execution, and contract summary.
- Conduct negotiations during the bid process and post-contract award to secure contract conditions that protect the organization and maximize value.
- Draft, negotiate, and finalize contracts to secure the best possible terms and conditions for the organization.
- Develop timelines for formal procurements and regularly update internal customers on progress towards contract completion.
- Assist internal customers in developing the scope of work/services as needed.
- Ensure the use of correct and current templates with applicable terms and conditions.
- Serve as the contract administrator for awarded contracts, assisting internal customers and external parties with contract-related questions and issues.
- Assist vendors with electronic proposal submissions when applicable.
- Manage information flow through the contract document management system.
- Provide contract reports and statistics to management upon request.
- Ensure compliance with historically underutilized businesses (HUB) and minority and women business enterprises (M/WBE).
- Communicate with management regarding workflow status, contract issues, and other relevant matters.
- Draft legal documents for real estate transactions and sales transactions, such as leases, Facility Use Agreements, and Construction Agreements.
- Assess legal risks in real estate documentation and paperwork.
- Draft and negotiate specialized contract documents, including subrecipient agreements, grant documents, and bills of sale.
- Develop external relationships to expand knowledge of the supply marketplace and internal relationships to understand the organization's procurement needs.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Required: Juris Doctor
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree or better in Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience:
- Required: 4 years of real estate drafting and negotiation experience
