A law firm is seeking a Senior Regulatory Associate Attorney with expertise in energy regulations, particularly in electricity, utilities, and renewables, for their Chicago, IL office. The Senior Regulatory Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing legal counsel and support to clients in the energy industry. They will handle a range of regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters, focusing on utilities at both state and federal levels. Additionally, the role involves representing energy companies and large industrial users in negotiations and power purchase agreements with utilities.

 

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and support to clients in the energy industry, specializing in regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters.
  • Handle regulatory compliance issues related to utilities at both state and federal levels.
  • Represent energy companies and large industrial users in negotiations and power purchase agreements with utilities.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on energy regulations and industry trends.
  • Draft legal documents including contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • 7+ years of experience in the energy industry, with a focus on regulatory matters.
  • Extensive experience working with clients in the energy sector, supporting regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters.
  • Strong understanding of regulations governing utilities at both state and federal levels.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Experience in litigation, regulatory, and legislative matters for the energy and/or extractive industries.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the State Bar of Illinois or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research and analysis.
  • Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
