Job Overview:
A highly regarded law firm is seeking a Corporate Finance Attorney with 5 or more years of experience in banking and financial services law to join its growing team in Chicago, IL. The role involves advising banks, non-bank financial institutions, and fintech companies on regulatory and transactional matters, including payment systems, consumer and commercial loan products, embedded finance, vendor contracts, and compliance with a broad range of state and federal laws. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of financial regulations, excellent communication skills, and a detail-oriented, client-focused approach.

Location:

  • Chicago, Illinois

Duties:

  • Advise clients on consumer and commercial financial products and services

  • Provide legal counsel on payment systems, embedded banking programs, and vendor contracts

  • Address regulatory compliance involving federal and state laws and agency rules

  • Draft and negotiate contracts and partnership agreements in the financial services space

  • Interpret and advise on laws including UCC Article 4A, Nacha/Real-Time Payments, EFTA, TILA, RESPA, FCRA, GLBA, AML/BSA, and applicable federal banking regulations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional legal teams and external clients

  • Stay current with evolving financial technologies and regulatory frameworks

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in banking, regulatory, or financial services law

  • Regulatory agency experience (preferred but not required)

  • Strong understanding of financial services and fintech industry practices

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and legal developments

  • Legally authorized to work in the . without sponsorship

  • Admission to the Illinois Bar

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois

Skills:
