Job Title: Manager, Core Tax Services - Corporate Tax/ASC 740
Job Responsibilities:
The Core Tax Services Manager for Corporate Tax/ASC 740 is responsible for advising clients on the tax implications of their business strategies, helping them minimize their tax burden and compliance costs, and identifying compliant methods to adhere to tax regulations. This role also involves acting as the primary contact for clients with complex corporate tax and ASC 740 tax issues. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring client compliance with applicable tax authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens, and ensuring compliance with firm policies and standards.
- Conducting top-level reviews of tax returns and resolving tax issues with clients, involving specialists as necessary.
- Planning and reviewing the tax process and procedures, including budgeting, staffing, and monitoring engagement processes.
- Managing client relationships and expectations, providing timely advice, and ensuring timely billing and collection of accounts receivable.
- Identifying when research is needed, framing issues for research, and training managers and staff on research skills.
- Applying firm policies and standards regarding ASC 740-10, and explaining components of income tax provisions and uncertain tax positions to clients.
- Assisting with developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by reducing current and future taxes.
- Developing in-depth understanding of various taxation areas, and organizing effective internal training sessions.
- Introducing and developing ideas to improve client, firm, or personnel positions by reducing taxes or expenses or providing non-tax benefits.
- Supervising Associates and Senior Associates, reviewing their work, providing feedback, and managing workloads.
- Acting as a career advisor and providing performance feedback to associates and senior associates.
Education and Experience Information:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation is required.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation is preferred.
Experience:
- At least five years of prior experience is required.
- Experience in managing the preparation and auditing of ASC740 computations for both privately held and publicly traded clients is required.
- Supervisory experience is required.
- Experience with multinational clients is preferred.
License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) is required.
Software:
- Required experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Preferred experience with tax research databases such as BNA and RIA, and proficiency in tax compliance process software including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively delegate work and develop and manage a team of tax professionals.
- Strong analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to compose written tax advice and maintain client relationships.
