Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Family Law Attorney in Brielle, NJ. The candidate should have a minimum of five years of experience in New Jersey family law, with a strong understanding of local practices and substantive law. This role requires significant client interaction and the ability to manage cases independently from inception to trial.

Duties

  • Understand and utilize the Family Law Case Information Statement (CIS).
  • Conduct hearings and trials, including domestic violence and divorce cases.
  • Handle motion practice for pre- and post-judgment matters.
  • Conduct mediations, including ESPs and economic mediations.
  • Perform legal research and draft briefs and memorandums.
  • Prepare, file, and argue pendente lite motions and Orders to Show Cause.
  • Research family law issues such as custody, divorce, and support.
  • Draft legal documents including complaints, answers, and motions.
  • Meet with clients to review and complete discovery responses.
  • Maintain and update case calendars.
  • Utilize Westlaw for legal research and case analysis.
  • Collaborate with attorneys on case strategies and litigation preparation.
  • Stay informed on changes in family law regulations and procedures.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a family law attorney in New Jersey.
  • Strong knowledge of New Jersey family law principles and procedures.
  • Proficient in legal drafting and document preparation.
  • Experience using legal research tools such as Westlaw.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of New Jersey.
