Job Overview:
A well-established full-service law firm with over 100 years of service in the Greenville community is seeking a Real Estate Attorney. The firm has built a reputation for handling complex commercial real estate and financing transactions, as well as providing invaluable leadership within the region. The role requires experience in real estate transactions, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will assist clients in a range of real estate matters, with a focus on commercial real estate, land use, and zoning issues.

Location:

  • Columbia, SC

Duties:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase contracts, leases, financing, corporate, and other documents for commercial real estate transactions
  • Review title examinations, title commitments, title policies, and surveys
  • Draft and respond to title objection letters
  • Coordinate and conduct closings and post-closing documentation
  • Advise clients on land use and zoning issues
  • Assist clients with tax credit and economic development incentives
  • Support senior attorneys with commercial real estate matters
  • Supervise and provide guidance to paralegal and legal assistant staff
  • Advise other firm attorneys on real estate-related matters
  • Maintain and organize client files effectively

Requirements:

  • Experience representing developers or other clients in complex commercial real estate and financing transactions
  • Strong academic background
  • Licensed in or willing to become licensed in South Carolina
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and work ethic
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and writing abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor with a high level of confidentiality
  • Desire to contribute to the betterment of the community and the legal profession
  • Experience with economic development incentives (preferred but not required)
  • Experience with SoftPro (preferred but not required)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • South Carolina Bar admission (or willingness to become admitted)

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina (or ability to obtain admission)

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and drafting skills
  • Ability to handle complex real estate transactions
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficiency in managing and closing multiple transactions simultaneously
  • Team-oriented with strong leadership and mentorship abilities
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
