Job Title: Associate – Privacy & Cybersecurity

Job Responsibilities:
The Associate in the Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice group is tasked with advising clients on various US-focused privacy and data-related compliance issues. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading projects and directly interfacing with clients.
- Conducting compliance gap assessments and developing comprehensive compliance programs.
- Drafting policies, procedures, and guidance, including privacy policies, business-facing guidance, DSR procedures, incident response plans, contracting templates, and playbooks.
- Providing advice on data sale/sharing/targeted advertising.
- Assisting clients in determining priorities, risks, and the implementation of compliance programs.
- Primarily working one-on-one with supervising partners but may occasionally supervise paralegals and junior lawyers.

Education and Experience Information:
- The position requires 4-6 years of practical data privacy counseling experience.
- Candidates should not have a practice focused on incident response, M&A diligence, or cybersecurity.
- Specific experience with state privacy laws such as CCPA, WA MHMD, and others is required.
- Experience with adtech, cookies/online trackers, and self-regulatory rules like TCPA, CANSPAM, DAA/NAI/IAB is strongly preferred.
- Experience in the financial and health/life sciences sectors, including GLBA, CalFIPA, FCRA, HIPAA, and state health privacy laws, is strongly preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication abilities are necessary.
- The candidate should be a self-starter who can prioritize workload with competing demands and provide practical advice based on risks.
- Must enjoy working in a collaborative environment and have the ability to independently manage matters or segments of large/complex matters.
- Large law firm experience is required, though boutique specialists may be considered.
- Certified Information Privacy Professionals (CIPP-US, CIPT, CIPM) are preferred but not mandatory.
- Must be admitted to practice in the jurisdiction where they are applying.

Salary Information:
The expected pay range for associates varies based on the class compensation year:
- 2025/2024 Class Compensation Years: $225,000
- 2023 Class Compensation Years: $235,000
- 2022 Class Compensation Years: $260,000
- 2021 Class Compensation Years: $310,000
- 2020 Class Compensation Years: $365,000
- 2019 Class Compensation Years: $390,000
- 2018 Class Compensation Years: $420,000
- 2017 and more senior class compensation years: $435,000
