Job Title: Internship with Senator Warner

Job Responsibilities:

Interns in Senator Warner's offices, whether in Washington, . or Virginia, are integral to the daily operations and support of the Senator's duties. Responsibilities include:

- Answering constituent phone calls and providing assistance
- Processing constituent correspondence and requests for assistance
- Attending hearings, briefings, and community outreach events
- Drafting summaries and preparing congressional inquiries
- Conducting research and producing written materials for legislative aides
- Assisting the Senator’s communications team in drafting press materials
- Leading tours of the historic . Capitol Building
- Supporting the congratulatory letter operation
- Basic office administration and front office duties
- Developing regional outreach calendars
- Performing various tasks that support the Senator's Constitutional obligations

Education and Experience Information:

To be eligible for an internship, candidates must have graduated from high school. Preference is given to candidates who have completed their first year of college and who either reside in Virginia or attend college in the state. Interns must meet specific time commitments depending on the session and location of the internship.

- For internships in the Washington, . office:
- Fall and spring sessions require a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week.
- The 6-week summer session generally requires full-time commitment (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday – Friday).

- For internships in Virginia offices:
- Fall and spring sessions require a minimum commitment of 12 hours per week.
- The 10-week summer session requires a minimum commitment of 24 hours per week.

Salary Information:

Interns who meet the minimum time commitment may receive a pre-tax stipend:

- $1000 pre-tax stipend for state office interns committing to 12 – 23 hours per week for the entire session
- $2000 pre-tax stipend for interns committing to at least 24 hours per week for the entire session

Compensation is contingent upon authorization to work in the United States, and interns must be . citizens or meet one of three limited exceptions as per federal law.

- Fall (DC): Mid-September – early December, with applications due by July 16 at 10:00 AM
- Fall (State): Mid-September – early December, with applications due by August 12 at 10:00 AM
