Tax Manager - Renewable Energy
Job Responsibilities:
As a Manager within the Sustainability, Climate, and Equity: Renewable Energy practice, the primary responsibilities include advising clients on tax issues related to renewable energy projects. The role involves collaborating with a team focused on renewable energy and sustainability, managing workstreams, and working with leadership to identify process improvements. Key duties include:
- Managing renewable energy client engagements and targeting new clients.
- Delivering value to clients by identifying opportunities and advising on eligibility for various tax credits such as IRC section 48 Investment Tax Credit, IRC section 45 Production Tax Credit, IRC section 45Q Carbon Capture Tax Credit, and IRC section 45V Clean Hydrogen Tax Credit.
- Preparing tax returns and providing advisory services related to renewable energy tax equity structures.
- Maintaining and developing strong relationships with clients and internal teams.
- Collaborating with member firms on work streams, like cost segregation studies and tax equity financial modeling.
- Identifying potential issues, proposing solutions, and implementing process improvement strategies.
- Ensuring accurate and timely delivery of engagement deliverables.
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory tax developments.
- Developing and mentoring team members.
- Supporting various internal initiatives and special tax-related projects.
Education and Experience Information:
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, law, business administration, economics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in a related field, with an exception for those with a master’s degree and 2+ years of experience.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills, as well as effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership skills, including strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to collaborate and develop internal and external working relationships proactively.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities independently.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to travel up to 25%, based on the work and client needs.
- One of the following active accreditations: CPA, Licensed Attorney, Enrolled Agent, Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, LLM, or JD.
- Experience with tax technical research.
- Experience with Federal or State and Local C&I.
- Experience with sustainability technologies or environmental sciences.
- Previous experience with a Big 4 or large CPA or law firm.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role is $93,660 to $213,200. This range accounts for various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is typical that individuals are not hired at or near the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on specific facts and circumstances. Additionally, there may be eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, where awards depend on individual and organizational performance.
