Job Title: Assistant City Solicitor or Deputy City Solicitor – Right to Know Unit

Job Responsibilities:
The Assistant City Solicitor or Deputy City Solicitor in the Right to Know Unit of the Compliance & Legislation Group is tasked with a variety of responsibilities concerning legal issues related to the Right-to-Know Law and other related laws on privacy and public records. Key responsibilities include:

- Advising and representing the **Members Only** in matters related to the Right-to-Know Law and other similar laws.
- Collaborating closely with clients to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
- Engaging with City business stakeholders, subject matter experts, vendors, and other interested parties concerning the release of public City records and information.
- Reviewing records and providing legal advice on their public release.
- Conducting research and drafting memoranda and other documents concerning the City’s obligations under the Right-to-Know Law and other related laws.
- Representing the City on appeals and related litigation concerning Right-to-Know Law requests.
- Providing advice on document-retention matters.
- Analyzing legal issues and interpreting City, State, and Federal laws, rulings, and regulations.
- Reviewing, evaluating, and updating form and training documents to reflect changes in the law.
- Training City employees, officials, and Open Records Officers on compliance with the Right-to-Know Law.
- Negotiating, reviewing, and drafting settlement and confidentiality agreements.
- Performing administrative functions related to legal practice.

Education and Experience Information:
- Assistant City Solicitor: This entry-level position prefers candidates with at least one year of relevant experience in a legal setting.
- Deputy City Solicitor: This intermediate-level position requires a minimum of four years of legal experience, ideally relevant to the subject matter and responsibilities described.
- Candidates must hold a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be either a member in good standing of the Pennsylvania Bar or eligible for admission by reciprocity to practice in Pennsylvania. Employment continuation for attorneys not admitted to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within six months of hire is at the Law Department's discretion.

Salary Information:
- Assistant City Solicitor: $79,512 to $90,125, commensurate with education and experience.
- Deputy City Solicitor: $92,612 to $111,385, commensurate with education and experience.
