Director of Housing Related Benefits (Citywide)
The Legal Aid Society’s Civil Practice is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Director of Housing Related Benefits to join our team. This is a Citywide position based out of our Brooklyn office, with a salary range of $160,000 - $165,000. The Director will report to the Attorney-in-Charge of the Housing Practice and work collaboratively with the Housing Leadership Group to build out the Citywide Housing Related Benefits work.
Some key responsibilities of this role include coordinating intake and representation city-wide, supporting the development and funding of programs, and evaluating legal issues and strategies. The Director will also engage in community education and outreach, develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations and government agencies, and supervise and mentor a team of attorneys and case handlers.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years of legal practice with a primary focus in NYC Housing Court, as well as experience working with vulnerable populations and in public interest law. Admission to the New York State Bar is required. Proficiency in languages other than English is desirable, but not required.
