Job Title: Resident Attorney

Job Responsibilities:
The Resident Attorney, operating under the general direction of the Regional General Attorney, is responsible for managing a medium-sized field law office. The role encompasses overseeing all phases of office operations, ensuring professional quality and excellence in work, and maintaining efficient processes and practices. Key responsibilities include:

- Accomplishing office, department, and corporate goals in alignment with Corporate and Legal Department objectives.
- Directing staff to achieve these goals and conducting performance appraisals.
- Reviewing staff attorney's work for quality and quantity, and taking corrective actions for deficiencies.
- Recruiting, hiring, and training new staff members.
- Reviewing incoming cases and assigning them to either outside counsel or staff attorneys as appropriate.
- Auditing selected case files to ensure proper case handling and adherence to company policy and applicable legislation.
- Acting as the principal legal advisor for all departments within the office.
- Meeting with claims and/or policyholders to discuss general policy and litigation prevention matters.
- Serving as Chief Trial Attorney on selected cases.
- Staying informed about developments in the law and using technology to improve quality and reduce costs.
- Keeping superiors within the Legal Department informed about work needs and any issues with the office or its personnel.

Education and Experience Information:
- Completion of law school with an LLB or JD degree.
- Admission to the Bar.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
- Demonstrated management ability is essential.
- Understanding the needs of the Claims Department and other departments is necessary, but must be balanced with legal ethics and law requirements.
- The ability to persuade through written or spoken word is crucial.

Salary Information:
- Minimum Salary: USD $152, per year.
- Maximum Salary: USD $275, per year.
- Typical Starting Salary: $152,000 - $213,000.
- Flexible Time Off Annual Accrual: 25 days.
