Part-time Associate Attorney The candidate will have access to a supervisor for all the support and training needed; however, the bulk of the work will be done own. Be the firm's primary point of contact with clients for all legal matters. Make court appearances or litigate, focus will be on thorough preemptive coverage, preventative maintenance, and compliance. Conduct client consultations with potential clients. Advice, research, reviewing, editing, and drafting documents related to issues including formations, upkeep, and dissolution of business entities (LLC,'s Corp, C Corp, Professional Corp, Benefit Corp, other); buying/selling small businesses; client and vendor contracts; NDAs; liability waivers; website privacy policies; commercial leases; employee handbooks; hiring; termination; leave; Covid-19 safety; independent contractor classification and agreements; employment contracts; ownership and protection of copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets; application for trademark registration; licensing; cease and desist letters. Work as a team to produce the best and most efficient services for clients. Proactive client communication, including emails, phone calls, and Zoom. Stay abreast of client issues and maintain proactive client relationships. Ongoing training and education related to the law, business development, rainmaking, and other topics related to a small law firm. Depending on skillset and interests, may be assigned one or both of the following future growth tracks, which will include some of the following additional duties. Provide opportunities for additional compensation. Ongoing education about the law; designing and drafting internal law firm documents and templates; designing and implementing internal systems for providing more efficient legal services and a better client experience, such as document automation, data tracking, or project management; and support to gain and practice networking and marketing skills with the goal of building own network and bringing in new clients.
The candidate must have 2-3 years of experience in Business Law (highly preferred), Employment Law, Intellectual Property; excellent problem solving and reasoning skills, grammar, spelling, and punctuation, verbal and written communication skills; willingness to learn new skills, ability to self-educate; competency in MS Office Suite and Google Workspace (namely MS Publisher, Google Docs, Google Drive); a growth mindset and like to learn and grow. Must be an attorney in good standing with the CA State Bar; self-directed, able to work independently, creative, and proactive; self-motivated and self-disciplined; comfortable in a paperless environment; able to provide nonjudgmental and enthusiastic, impeccable service to all people equally. Must value a work environment based on respect and trust, with accompanying autonomy.
