Job Overview:
A respected civil defense law firm is seeking a skilled SIU Litigation Attorney with a minimum of four years of relevant experience to join its Pittsburgh, PA office. This role involves handling a high volume of fraud-related cases, defending insurance clients against fraudulent claims, and litigating affirmative actions including RICO-based matters. The position requires a strong foundation in litigation strategy, legal writing, and fraud investigation, with opportunities to represent clients in both state and federal court.
Location:
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Duties:
Collaborate with Special Investigations Units (SIU) to identify and defend against fraudulent insurance claims
Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including RICO and other affirmative actions
Develop litigation strategies and negotiate complex legal matters
Conduct legal discovery, depositions, and examinations under oath (EUOs)
Represent clients in arbitrations, mediations, and court proceedings
Prepare and argue motions and briefs in federal and state court
Attend court conferences, hearings, and trials, including expert witness examinations
Draft pre- and post-trial motions and settlement documentation
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of litigation experience, preferably with a focus on fraud, insurance defense, or SIU matters
Demonstrated experience in handling affirmative actions such as RICO litigation
Strong understanding of personal injury, PIP, first-party property, trucking, labor law, and workers' compensation matters
Experience conducting EUOs, depositions, mediations, and court appearances
Ability to manage a complex caseload and meet critical deadlines
Education:
Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Admission to practice law in Pennsylvania
Admission to Federal Court is a plus
Skills:
Exceptional legal research and writing skills
Strong oral advocacy and negotiation abilities
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and case management skills
Proficiency in managing complex litigation in both state and federal courts
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team
