The position involves working on a broad range of assignments that include both transactional and litigation-related work. General duties include legal research and writing, discovery, and trial/hearing preparation. The internship is ideal for those interested in public service or fields related to administrative law, litigation, or contracts. The responsibilities are as follows:
- Conduct legal research and draft legal documents.
- Assist in discovery and trial/hearing preparation.
- Engage in both transactional and litigation-related work.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
- Work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
- Analyze laws and regulations critically.
- Utilize Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
Education and Experience Information:
To qualify for this internship, candidates must be currently enrolled in a juris doctor program or have graduated within the last twelve months from an accredited college or university juris doctor degree program. The ideal candidate is a first, second, or third-year law student with excellent research and writing skills, the ability to work efficiently and independently with moderate supervision, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Salary Information:
The salary for the Law Clerk Internship is to be determined by the agency. The internships may be paid or unpaid, and there is no guarantee of employment following the internship.
