Job Title: Tax Senior - Hedge Funds

Job Responsibilities:
Tax seniors in the Hedge Funds sector are tasked with identifying complex tax issues and providing thorough tax analyses for a wide range of hedge fund clients and their affiliates. Key responsibilities include:
- Understanding and applying Subchapter K related to hedge fund structures, financial products, and related tax adjustments.
- Performing detail-level reviews of tax workpapers, allocations, and tax returns.
- Conducting research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities, supported by the Washington National Tax group.
- Building relationships and coordinating with client contacts to gather necessary information.
- Training, mentoring, and supervising new and experienced-level staff.
- Attending required training sessions provided by the company and sector-specific programs.

Education and Experience Information:
Required:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field.
- Active accreditation such as a CPA license in the state of practice/primary office (if eligible to sit for the CPA), or if not CPA eligible, a licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, or certifications like Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Ability to perform responsibilities within a hybrid work model, co-locating in person 2-3 days per week.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%, depending on work and client/industry needs.

Preferred:
- An advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM.
- Previous experience in a Big 4 accounting firm.
- Demonstrated understanding of Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale and constructive sale rules, and familiarity with aggregate allocations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.

Salary Information:
The salary range for the role is between $66,570 and $151,580, taking into account various factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are made based on the facts and circumstances of each case, and it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. Additionally, candidates may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, which depends on individual and organizational performance.
