Job Overview:
A well-established litigation law firm is seeking a full-time Insurance Defense Attorney to join its Rochester, Michigan office. This position is ideal for an attorney with at least 3 years of experience in insurance defense litigation who is capable of managing cases independently from inception through resolution. The role involves courtroom appearances, discovery, depositions, and close collaboration with both clients and internal teams. The ideal candidate will be a motivated legal professional with strong litigation skills and a commitment to high-quality representation.

Location:

• Rochester, MI

Duties:

• Manage all phases of insurance defense litigation, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial processes

• Draft motions, pleadings, discovery, and legal correspondence

• Conduct depositions of parties, witnesses, and expert witnesses

• Appear in court for hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials

• Analyze claims, assess liability and exposure, and develop litigation strategies

• Provide legal advice and case updates to clients and insurance carriers

• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and internal teams

• Maintain accurate records of billable hours and ensure timely submissions

• Oversee legal support staff as needed and ensure efficient case management

• Adhere to court deadlines and manage litigation calendars

Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in insurance defense or general civil litigation

• Familiarity with Michigan court rules and litigation procedures

• Ability to manage multiple active cases with strong organizational skills

• Commitment to professional ethics, accuracy, and client service

Education:

• Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar

Skills:

• Strong written and oral advocacy skills

• Excellent legal research and analytical capabilities

• Skilled in case evaluation and negotiation

• Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines in a high-volume practice

• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
