A Buffalo-based law firm is seeking a seasoned legal professional with deep expertise in real estate transactions to join its team as a Title Review Associate Attorney. This position offers a dynamic environment for a legal practitioner skilled in identifying and resolving title-related issues, with a focus on providing strategic support for real estate matters, including title reports, curatives, and survey analysis.

Duties:

  • Analyze and interpret title reports, commitments, and supporting documents

  • Detect title defects, encumbrances, and exceptions; evaluate potential legal risks and suggest remedies

  • Prepare formal title objection communications

  • Engage with title insurers, underwriting professionals, and legal counterparts to resolve complex title matters

  • Collaborate in the negotiation of title insurance terms and coverage

  • Review and assess real estate surveys for transactional and legal implications

  • Research laws, rulings, and legal articles related to title issues and communicate findings to internal stakeholders

  • Maintain detailed and well-organized documentation of title-related reviews and status tracking

  • Coordinate across practice areas to ensure comprehensive client service

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice law in the State of New York

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited institution

  • 5+ years of experience in real estate law, particularly with title review, curatives, and surveys

  • Demonstrated academic excellence

  • Proven ability to collaborate across legal disciplines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and data handling

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications

  • Competence in using legal or data tracking databases for documentation and project management

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
