Job Title: Applied Researcher II
Job Responsibilities:
- Partner with a cross-functional team consisting of data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform customer interactions with their finances.
- Utilize a diverse set of technologies including Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, Lightning, VectorDBs, among others, to extract insights from vast amounts of numeric and textual data.
- Develop AI foundation models through all phases of development, including design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
- Conduct high-impact applied research to integrate the latest AI advancements into next-generation customer experiences.
- Translate complex work into tangible business goals through effective interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience Information:
- Basic Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing or holding a PhD with the expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date, along with at least 2 years of experience in Applied Research, or holding a Master’s degree with at least 4 years of experience in Applied Research.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience and publications related to pre-training of large language models, optimization of training for large models, and fine-tuning of language models.
- Experience in building large deep learning models and expertise in areas such as training optimization, self-supervised learning, and robustness.
- Demonstrated ability to pursue a research agenda autonomously, with accomplishments such as first-author publications or projects.

- McLean, VA: $257,300 - $293,700 for Applied Researcher II
- New York, NY: $280,700 - $320,400 for Applied Researcher II
- San Francisco, CA: $280,700 - $320,400 for Applied Researcher II
- San Jose, CA: $280,700 - $320,400 for Applied Researcher II
