What You'll Do:
- Lead tax advisory, compliance review, and tax return signoff for private equity clients, including multi-state filings and specialized tax considerations for funds and investments.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of partnership and fund tax returns (., Form 1065, K-1), ensuring compliance with regulations while maximizing tax efficiency for private equity structures.
- Work closely with clients to develop and implement tax-efficient strategies that align with investment goals, fund structures, and long-term financial objectives.
- Stay up to date on current tax laws, regulatory changes, and industry best practices, particularly in the private equity space, to deliver strategic and informed tax advice.
Client Experience:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with private equity fund managers, institutional investors, and other key stakeholders, providing consistent value and expertise to ensure client satisfaction and confidence.
- Provide high-level tax guidance on complex issues such as fund structures, carried interest, and tax planning for investments and distributions.
- Stay current with tax developments relevant to private equity, ensuring clients receive the most accurate, strategic, and timely advice.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and develop junior tax staff, reviewing their work and providing guidance on complex tax issues.
- Respect and celebrate the value of each team member's stories, backgrounds, perspectives, and ideas, building meaningful relationships with all those you interact with.
- Provide motivation to the team, including developing young leaders through active contribution to training and development.
- Exhibit forward thinking, innovation, and delivering an exceptional work product.
Who You Are:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- CPA or JD required at the Senior Manager level; preferred at the Manager level.
- 5+ years of tax experience, with a focus on private equity funds; preferably within a public accounting firm.
- Proven leadership experience with a consistent record of accomplishment, accountability, and history of execution against budget and strategic initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax issues in a clear and client-friendly manner.
- Initiative to learn, ask questions, operate in a fast-paced environment, challenge the status quo, develop strong relationships internally, and be flexible are required and keys to success.
- Understanding of Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, and familiarity with tax software required.

- Preferred Locations: Cleveland, Akron, OH; Pittsburgh, PA; Chicago, IL; Detroit or St. Clair Shores, MI.

Estimated Salary Range: $85,000 - $210,000*.
*Salaries offered to candidates are determined based on factors such as the candidate's relevant skillset, experience, licensure, and certifications, as well as job responsibilities, geography, market considerations, and organizational needs.
