Job Overview:
A law firm based in Mount Laurel, NJ, is seeking a litigation associate to join its General Liability team. This position is ideal for a mid-level attorney with experience in insurance defense and civil litigation, particularly involving personal injury and property-related claims. The role involves managing files independently, handling courtroom appearances, and working on a range of matters, including auto, premises liability, product liability, and construction defect cases.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation from intake to resolution

  • Conduct and defend depositions, including those of parties, experts, and witnesses

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence

  • Prepare for and participate in court hearings, arbitrations, and trials

  • Handle written discovery, document review, and expert discovery

  • Evaluate case strengths, legal risks, and settlement opportunities

  • Collaborate with team members and clients for strategy development

Requirements:

  • 4-6 years of relevant litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense

  • Prior exposure to general liability, auto claims, and premises or construction litigation

  • Strong command of procedural rules and courtroom advocacy

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in New Jersey

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • An active New Jersey Bar license is required

  • Admission in New York and/or Pennsylvania is preferred

Skills:

  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills

  • Ability to manage caseload independently and meet deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

  • Competency with litigation software and electronic case management tools
