Tax Experienced Senior, International Tax Services
Job Responsibilities:
The Tax Experienced Senior, International Tax Services is responsible for using basic research skills and applying their educational background to identify potential tax issues. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the development, recommendation, and implementation of standard tax methods to provide clients with maximum tax benefits related to current and future tax obligations.
- Developing workplans for all assigned clients and identifying consulting opportunities to reduce clients' tax liabilities.
- Coordinating with foreign offices to address international tax issues.
- Developing an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues related to international taxation and exploring specialization in one or more international tax areas.
- Conducting research when necessary, analyzing facts and sources, and composing detailed reports of findings.
- Preparing written tax advice and consulting with the National Tax Office as needed.
- Obtaining required client information for tax filings, documenting significant tax positions, and reviewing basic returns to prepare notes for preparers.
- Assisting in the tax planning process and addressing preparer questions.
- Representing clients before the IRS, with guidance from senior international tax professionals.
- Applying standards, policies, and quality manual requirements in reviewing international aspects of tax provisions.
- Supervising the workload of International Tax Associates and Interns, reviewing their work, providing training, feedback, and evaluations, and acting as a mentor.
Education and Experience Information:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a focus in Accounting.
- Preferred: Juris Doctorate degree, LLM, and/or MST/MBT.
- Required: Three or more years of experience in corporate tax, international taxation, legal professional services, or equivalent experience from an advanced degree program.
- Required: Experience in international tax.
- Preferred: Prior experience supervising tax professionals on a project or engagement basis.
License/Certifications:
- Preferred: CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA), or the equivalent.
Software:
- Preferred: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Preferred: Experience utilizing RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis, and/or Westlaw.
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and basic legal and tax research skills, including building models and analyzing financial and numerical data.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet project deadlines and focus on details.
- Ability to multitask while working independently or within a group environment.
- Capability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to effectively manage a team of tax professionals and delegate work assignments.
- Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel.
- Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels.
- Ability to prepare provisions and review.
- Basic knowledge of sources of relevant information utilized in tax filings and widely used filing forms.
- Basic understanding of the technical and practical issues regarding one or more areas of taxation and law.
- Strong legal writing background and familiarity with the IRAC method of analysis.
Salary Information:
Individual salaries offered to a candidate are determined after considering numerous factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. The salary ranges are:
- National Range: $74,550 - $147,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $74,550 - $147,000
- Washington DC Range: $74,550 - $147,000
