Job Title: Attorney Advisor

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform developmental assignments based on advice from senior attorneys or the Judge Advocate, including assessment and evaluation of legal compliance, legal sufficiency, and advisability in various areas such as administrative law, claims, environmental law, contract law, labor law, and international law.
- Provide legal advice and counsel to wing and tenant units, supporting the Staff Judge Advocate (SJA).
- Evaluate claims by and against the government, assess legal risks, and recommend dispositions.
- Perform recurring assignments that increase in difficulty and complexity, determining practices and procedures for conventional tasks.
- Interpret and adapt guidelines to resolve procedural or factual issues, participate in special initiatives and studies, and carry out special projects.
- Conduct research, analyze data, and provide substantive evaluation affecting program operations.
- Prepare and coordinate reference papers and documentation to support project initiatives.
- Present reports to various audiences and perform analysis to provide recommendations for issue resolution.
- Draft or prepare a variety of documents in support of the SJA using software such as word processing and spreadsheets.
Education and Experience Information:
- Recent law school graduates must have completed a full course of study at a law school accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and possess the first professional law degree (LLB or JD).
- Must provide proof of passing the State Bar and be currently licensed as an attorney, in active status and in good standing, with the bar of a . state, territory, or commonwealth.
- Maintain bar membership in at least one jurisdiction during the entire course of employment with the Air Force.
- Applicants must have completed their first law degree (LLB or JD) from a qualifying educational institution and all bar requirements within the previous two years, or will complete these requirements by May 1, 2025.
- To qualify as a GS-11, candidates must have one year of professional law experience, a second professional law degree (Master of Laws [.]), or superior law student work or activities such as academic standing in the upper third of the graduating class, significant achievements on official law reviews or journals, or significant summer law office clerk experience.
- Experience includes both paid and unpaid work, including volunteer work through National Service Programs and other organizations, which helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills.
Salary Information:
- Salary ranges from $72,553 to $134,435 per year, with a pay scale & grade of GS 11 - 13.
- The position offers permanent appointment type and full-time work schedule.
- Yearly salary increases based on successful performance and supervisory approval are available through the PALACE Acquire Program, which offers a 2-year formal training plan for Master's Degree holders.

- Relocation expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with agency policy.
- The position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program and may require random drug testing.

- The position offers a one-year trial period during the first year of the PAQ internship appointment.
