The Maryland Attorney General's Office is seeking law students to join their Law Clerk Program for the Summer term. As the largest and finest law firm in the state, the Office offers a wide range of legal work and a chance to make a difference in communities across Maryland.
The Law Clerk Program provides law students with the opportunity to work on various legal fields, including criminal investigations, consumer protection, and counsel to state agencies. Law clerks will have the chance to perform legal research and writing, participate in witness and client interviews, and assist with litigation in Maryland's trial, administrative, and appellate courts.
The **Members Only** represents the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) in matters related to affordable housing and community development. This includes closing complex real estate transactions, tax-exempt bond issuance, and preparing grant agreements for community development. Law clerks may also have the opportunity to work on fair housing issues, personnel matters, and legislative efforts related to affordable housing. The office is located at DHCD headquarters in Lanham, Prince George's County, near the New Carrollton Metro station.
The ideal law clerk candidate should have excellent legal research and writing abilities, strong communication and team skills, and a great work ethic with a positive attitude. The schedule for law clerks will be determined based on the division's needs and the clerk's class and extracurricular commitments. Law clerks are expected to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week and may be eligible for course credit.
