Job Title: Fall 2025 Law Clerk

Job Responsibilities:
The role of a Fall 2025 Law Clerk at the organization involves comprehensive engagement with the legal process and requires working closely with Juvenile Defenders. Law clerks are expected to actively participate in case preparation, gaining substantive skills, producing written work, and obtaining real case experience. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting legal research.
- Drafting motions and memoranda.
- Planning cases.
- Conducting investigations.
- Coordinating witnesses.
- Preparing for and participating in trials, hearings, and/or sentencings.

Law clerks are fully integrated into trial teams, collaborating with attorneys, investigators, paralegals, social workers, and other support staff to ensure clients receive the best possible representation. They will engage significantly in research, writing, witness preparation, investigations, and trial preparation.

Education and Experience Information:
The position is designed for current law students or recent law school graduates. The organization provides opportunities for law students to join their district offices as law clerks. These positions are unpaid volunteer opportunities, but the organization supports externs seeking academic credits for their work and can sponsor grant or other outside funding applications.
