- Responsible for researching and analyzing legal issues and questions
- Provides personal and confidential assistance to individual judge or judges
- Appointed by judges of all Supreme Courts, the Court of Claims, County Courts, and Surrogate's Courts
- Personally appointed by the judge or judges they work for
- Serve at the pleasure of the judge or judges
- Relevant legal experience and excellent writing and communication skills required
- Attention to detail, strong organizational and interpersonal skills necessary
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good judgment
- Solid academic credentials preferred, no rigid requirements regarding class rank or standing
- Substantive duties include researching and analyzing legal issues, drafting decisions and orders, and communicating with parties
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PDF software necessary
- Position may require reassignment to any position within the same title in the promotion unit
