POSITION TITLE: LAW CLERK TO JUDGE JG: 24

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Law Clerk to Judge is a role that involves significant legal research and analytical duties. Individuals in this position are tasked with providing personal and confidential assistance to a judge or multiple judges. This includes:

- Researching and analyzing legal issues and questions.
- Drafting decisions, orders, correspondence, and other written materials to aid the judge in case and trial preparation.
- Conferring with the judge on a wide range of issues, including tracking the progress and resolution of cases.
- Acting as a liaison and communicating with parties involved in the cases, which includes conducting conferences.
- Demonstrating excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Prioritizing effectively and handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Working independently while managing sensitive matters confidentially and maintaining good judgment.
- Proficiency in using Word, Outlook, Excel, and PDF software is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE INFORMATION:
Candidates must have graduated from an accredited law school and must be admitted to the New York State Bar within eighteen (18) months of appointment. While solid academic credentials are necessary, there are no strict requirements regarding class rank or standing. Relevant legal experience and excellent writing, analysis, and communication skills are essential. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are also required.

SALARY INFORMATION:
The base salary for the position of Law Clerk to Judge JG: 24 is $86,737.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The role is classified as exempt/confidential and is situated in the **Members Only**. While the position is located in a specific location, the appointee may be reassigned to any position within the same title in the promotion unit, depending on the needs of the Unified Court System. The current posting is for one (1) available position, but applications received may be used to fill any vacancies in this title within the next six (6) months.
