Job Title: Litigation Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm based in Rochester Hills, MI, is seeking a detail-oriented Litigation Associate to join its civil litigation group, with an emphasis on real estate, mortgage default, and title disputes. This role offers the opportunity to independently manage a diverse caseload while working closely with clients and internal departments. Ideal candidates will bring at least two years of courtroom and motion practice experience and demonstrate strong research, advocacy, and organizational abilities.

Duties:

  • Handle full litigation lifecycle, from initial pleadings to trial or resolution

  • Draft legal documents, including complaints, dispositive motions, and settlement agreements

  • Represent clients in court for motion hearings, evidentiary hearings, pre-trial conferences, and trials

  • Prepare and respond to discovery, conduct depositions, and investigate claims

  • Review pleadings and formulate appropriate responses or motions

  • Conduct legal research using statutory, case, and administrative law sources

  • Monitor and meet litigation deadlines and court requirements

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of billable activity

  • Ensure compliance with client-specific procedures and litigation strategy

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on risk and strategic case direction

  • Manage matters involving title disputes, contested foreclosures and evictions, nuisance issues, collections, landlord-tenant conflicts, and related civil matters

Requirements:

  • Active license to practice in Michigan and membership in good standing with the State Bar

  • Eligibility to practice in the . District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (or willingness to become licensed in the Western District as needed)

  • Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience, ideally in real estate, title, or mortgage-related disputes

Education:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited institution

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Michigan

  • Admission to the Eastern District of Michigan (Western District licensure a plus)

Skills:

  • Proficient in legal research tools (., LexisNexis Advance)

  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

  • Experience with legal case management software (experience with Case Aware is advantageous)

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic legal environment

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Effective oral advocacy and litigation presentation abilities

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • A collaborative approach when coordinating with various legal departments
