Job Title: Tax Senior - Hedge Funds
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analyses for a variety of hedge fund clients and their affiliates.
- Solid understanding of Subchapter K related to hedge fund structures, financial products, related tax adjustments, and aggregate allocations.
- Determine trader vs. investor status and identify necessary federal, international, and state investor reporting.
- Perform detail-level review of tax workpapers, allocations, and tax returns.
- Conduct research to advise on transactional and tax planning opportunities with support from the Washington National Tax group.
- Build relationships by coordinating and communicating with client contacts to gather information.
- Train, mentor, and supervise new and experienced-level staff.
- Attend required training sessions specific to the department and sector.
Education and Experience Information:
- Ability to perform job responsibilities within a hybrid work model requiring co-location in person 2-3 days per week.
- 3+ years’ experience providing tax planning services or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field.
- One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA.
- If not CPA eligible:
- Licensed attorney.
- Enrolled Agent.
- Certifications:
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA).
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average, based on the work and clients served.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM.
- Previous Big 4 experience.
- Demonstrated basic understanding of Subchapter K, financial products, wash sale and constructive sale rules, and familiarity with aggregate allocations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting.
Salary Information:
The wage range for this role considers various factors in making compensation decisions, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and other business needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for geographic differential. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,570 to $151,580. Participation in a discretionary annual incentive program may be possible, subject to rules governing the program, with awards depending on individual and organizational performance.
