**Job Responsibilities:**
The role of a 2L Summer Associate at the law firm involves engaging in a comprehensive summer program designed to provide aspiring legal professionals with hands-on experience in the legal field. The responsibilities include:
- Collaborating directly with experienced lawyers and professionals across various practice areas.
- Participating in client interactions and contributing to real-world legal projects.
- Selecting two or three primary areas of interest to explore assignments in different practice groups.
- Receiving assignments through an online portal, personal connections with attorneys, emails, calls, or meetings.
- Engaging in project-based work that requires legal writing, research, communication, accuracy, timeliness, and analytical skills.
- Receiving feedback from assigning attorneys in real-time after each assignment.
- Participating in midsummer and end-of-summer evaluation meetings for further insights and development.
- Attending a two-day orientation and training followed by a multi-day Summer Associate Retreat.
- Participating in biweekly educational video conferences on topics like time management, legal writing, and practice development.
- Having full access to the firm’s online training programs throughout the summer.
- Being paired with a partner adviser and an associate adviser for mentorship.
- Utilizing a networking budget to foster informal mentoring and connections with attorneys.
- Working on pro bono matters available in every office.
**Education and Experience Information:**
- Candidates should be anticipating graduation from law school in 2027.
- The position is open to law students who are currently in their second year (2L) of law school.

**Salary Information:**
- The salary for the 2L Summer Associate position is $4,100 weekly.
- Employees are eligible for paid time off.

- The program includes a multi-day retreat in Indianapolis or Chicago with participants from all offices and offers opportunities for pro bono project participation.
**Prelaw Scholars Program:**
- The law firm offers a Prelaw Scholars Program (PSP) to help prospective law students overcome obstacles on their path to law school.
- The program covers the cost of the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and prep course and provides funds for a credential assembly service.
- Participants are paired with an attorney mentor to guide them through law school.
