Tax Senior, Business Tax Services - Tax-Exempt:
- Salary range: $63,420 to $144,300 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
- Job title: Tax Senior within the Tax-Exempt practice
- Experience: 3+ years in federal taxation with a focus on tax-exempt organizations, Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field, and active accreditation such as CPA, attorney, enrolled agent, CFA, or CFP
- Location: Available in 20 locations nationwide
Position Summary:
- Strategic and creative federal tax professional in Deloitte's Business Tax Services Tax-Exempt practice
- Provides federal tax compliance and consulting services to non-profit clients in various industries
- Works with clients who are actively involved in philanthropic activities
- Works with a team of specialists and firm leadership for support and success
Responsibilities:
- Maintains and develops strong client relationships on federal tax consulting and compliance engagements
- Advises clients on tax issues including compliance, business restructuring, exemption strategies, and philanthropic planning
- Oversees federal tax compliance and consulting projects for different entities and affiliates
The Team:
- Large national team of experienced professionals dedicated to serving non-profit organizations and donors
- Comprised of PPMDS, multi-state tax compliance, international tax compliance and consulting, and transfer tax planning specialists
- Collaborates with Consulting, Audit & Assurance, and Advisory colleagues on client planning projects
- Cross-functional team, the Global Center for Excellence in Philanthropy, provides philanthropic tax advisory services to high net worth donors
Qualifications:
Required:
- Ability to work in a hybrid model with 2-3 days in person per week
- 3+ years of federal taxation experience with a focus on tax-exempt organizations
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field
- Active accreditation such as CPA, attorney, enrolled agent, CFA, or CFP
- Ability to travel up to 25% for work
Preferred:
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, or LLM
- Previous experience in Big 4 or large CPA firm
- Strong understanding and experience with federal tax compliance and research
- Familiarity with mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring for tax-exempt organizations
- Excellent research, writing, presentation, and communication skills
- Strong management and analytical skills
