The New Jersey Division of Law offers law students the opportunity to serve an internship during their Fall or Spring Semesters or during their Summer breaks. This internship program provides law students with practical experience and the opportunity to observe a wide range of lawyering activities, including research and writing, court proceedings, client meetings, and depositions.
Internship Details:
- Location: Newark, Trenton, or Voorhees, New Jersey
- Duration: Fall or Spring Semesters or Summer Break
- Supervision: Deputy Attorney General
- Overall Supervision: Assistant Attorney General
- Training: Eligible to participate in training sessions offered to Deputy Attorneys General throughout the year
- Assignments: Based on student interest and availability
- Application Deadline: March 15 for Summer Session
Responsibilities:
- Perform a full range of law clerk responsibilities, including research and writing
- Attend court proceedings, meetings with clients, depositions, and other special events
- Observe a wide range of lawyering activities
- Participate in training sessions offered to Deputy Attorneys General
Requirements:
- Law student
- Submit Internship Application, resume, legal writing sample, and most recent grade report to the appropriate recruiter
- Complete a Confidential Background Investigation Clearance Form if offered a position in the program
