Description:
As an Insurance Defense Trial Attorney at **Members Only**, you will join a diverse team that values a healthy work/life balance and strives to deliver exceptional legal services to customers around the world. You will have the opportunity to represent **Members Only** and our policyholders in complex civil litigation and workers’ compensation matters, involving claims for monetary damages or compensation for personal injuries or property damages of heavy value. This role is primarily remote, with required appearances.

Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire legal process, from investigation and discovery through trial preparation and court proceedings representing clients in depositions, site inspections, court hearings, trials, etc.
- Research all applicable laws and findings to develop appropriate legal strategies for all stages of litigation and share them with claims representatives and insured clients.
- Establish and maintain good relationships with claims representatives and clients, and occasionally conduct training sessions for Legal, Claims, or other departments.
- Develop and render clear, unambiguous legal opinions and strategies, and draft legal documents including pleadings and motions.
- Provide guidance and direction to junior attorneys, prepare and conduct training sessions for the legal and claims departments, and collaborate with colleagues who are remotely located.
Qualifications:
- Membership in the California State Bar.
- Appropriate special licenses to practice before boards or federal courts preferred.
- A minimum of six years of successful experience as an attorney with trial experience.
- Experience conducting discovery, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, hearings - handling cases from inception through settlement/verdict.
- Experience representing insurance companies.

- Aptitude for detail-oriented, analytical thinking.
- Persuasive oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge:
- General knowledge of insurance law.
- Familiarity with the latest developments in the practice of law, as well as pertinent knowledge in related fields.
- Proficiency with technologies that reduce costs and facilitate the practice of law and remote work.
Education:
- A JD degree.
